The entire house was updated in mid 1960, and it is important to us that any remodeling we do now is done in such a way as to not lessen the character of the rest of our wonderful home. First problem was finding just the right contractor to re-do our one bathroom. After contacting several contractors that either didn’t return our calls, missed appointments, or spent hours of our time only to arrive at grandiose undertakings with huge price tags - we found Ron Briddell at the Home Show in Belleville. The old narrow tiled tub is now a large and open Kohler shower unit with beautiful glass doors. The toilet and vanity are comfort height (what a great ideal) and the floor and new window look great. It was especially important to me that our vanity top try to match the marble window sil we have, and thanks to the vanity supplier’s help and patience, it looks GREAT! Also Freeburg Glass did an incredible job of guiding me toward the right shower doors, as well as the mirror over the vanity and matching full length wall mirror. All of the necessary suppliers worked especially well in coordinating our wants and needs with Briddell employees. Now to add how we REALLY feel ----- !!! Bridell Remodeling, Inc. employees and sub-contractors worked with impressive skill, and never lost concern for the rest of our home in the process. They were fast and efficient; able to deal with any glitches that arose (remember, 100 year old house here); and the trim-out skills exhibited were excellent. So I went back to the Signature Hardware catalog and found a holder that clamps around the water pipe and it works! I put it right above the connection of the two pieces of pipe at chest level. To Whom It May Concern: I wanted to take the time to share with you my experience with Ron Briddell owner of the Briddell Construction Company. My husband and I initially hired Briddell Construction to finish approximately 1000 square feet in our basement. Within days of our request for information, Ron personally called and set up a time to meet with us in our home. Since neither my husband nor I really speak the "construction language," Ron patiently explained to us what would need to be done to obtain our desired results. Within 48 hours of this meeting Ron stopped by our house (again at our convenience) with a bid and contract. To ensure satisfaction by all parties, Ron does not ask for 100% of payment up front, but instead requests payment at the completion of different stages of the job. Ron provided us with a phone number to call with any questions or concerns. Ron provided us with an approximate timeline when we signed the contract. In reality, he was able to start the job sooner than promised! Prior to starting work, the workers took care to protect any flooring they would have to cross on the way to the basement. After the framework for the walls was completed, I called Ron to discuss the size of a room. Ron promptly returned my phone call and was happy to accommodate my request to move a wall and enlarge the room. Along the way I called Ron several times to clarify items we wanted completed. In all cases, he was timely in his response , very pleasant on the phone, and was able to make the changes we requested. During the time the Briddell Construction Company was working on our basement, we suffered water damage in an upstairs bedroom. Once again I called Ron, who had one of his workers inspect the inside damage while he personally inspected the outside of the house to determine the cause of the damage. Within 24 hours we had a bid for the job, which I was then able to forward onto the insurance company. The work was completed prior to the end of our remodeling. I was very impressed by the quality of work done by all the professionals associated with Briddell Construction. I have already had the electrician do a side job for me, am hoping to hire the painters for an upcoming job, and kept the carpet layers information for future reference. Ron outlined a timetable for the completion of the project at the outset of the planning process which was extremely important to us, since we were vacating our home during the project. Ron's recommendation that we vacate the home during the project was good advice considering the "wall to wall" nature of the improvements. It would have been extremely difficult for us and the workers had we been in their midst while the work was being done. Ron's subcontractors were outstanding. We had plastering work, electrical work and ductwork completed by subcontractors that Ron coordinated while Ron completed the plumbing work himself and also completed the installation of the cabinets and doors and trim himself. The subcontractors were all prompt and polite and, perhaps most importantly, terrific at their work. In addition, Ron coordinated the timing of the installation of the flooring. The timing of the various aspects of this job was critical for us to be able to move back in our home at the agreed upon time. Everyone had to show up at their scheduled time to do their work so the project could proceed quickly and on schedule and Ron made sure it happened as he had promised it would. During the project, I called Ron regularly with a variety of questions relating to the project. He was generally responsive to my questions and showed sensitivity to the fact that we were out of our home and wanted to return as quickly as possible. Ron was very helpful, listening to our ideas, making suggestions, then telling us the best places to shop for what we needed. We had several estimates. Briddell Construction was right in line.
